Snail mail

The top two pictures are wonderful surprises I received in the mail from my dearest friend Lucy and her wee accomplice, Anna. I was sooo happy to receive snail mail. Sometimes it feels like my only friends are Softbank and the electric company. Recently I have been working on building up my craft supplies so I can create pretty things to send my friends around the world. I started with this stamp kit and have now moved on to washi tape which has become a full blown obsession. Available at all the dollar shops they are great for wrapping up gifts and decorating letters. If you don't live in Japan there is a lot of tape available on Etsy. The next thing on my list is a tape labeller, then I will be in bonafide craft heaven!

All that glitters

Confetti System has been doing the rounds on the internet but I had to post as I so so want a garland to adorn my apartment wall. I love the idea of every day being a celebration and decorating ones space in such a festive manner. Confetti System is the brain child of Nicholas Andersen and Julie Ho, a duo working as artists, stylists, and designers. Their creations are made from various simple materials like tissue paper, cardboard and silk. Their studio was featured on the Selby, it looks like a great place to work. Speaking of the Selby, here is a inspirational video he made. Yum!

Happy friday

Samui!

It's been really cold (samui) lately, the type of temperature where you can't feel your face. Most days, as soon as I get home I jump in the shower to warm the numbness. I love to put frozen fingers under steaming hot water watching them slowly turn pink and wrinkly. In an effort to be productive in the cold weather I've been learning to ski. On Sunday I got a little bit excited after mastering a turning motion and after a successful run down the mountain I bailed hard, star fishing in the snow. Both my skis flew off and I twisted my leg. I had to get snow mobiled down to the very bottom of the mountain. I was that girl, oh the shame. After some over attentive medical treatment from a fretful Japanese man, my friends and I headed to the local onsen. Relaxing outside in steaming hot baths and feeling falling snow on your face was completely unreal, a very nice combination of hot and cold. Anyway, what this rant is leading to is that as a result of my minor injury I have been holed up in my apartmento revisiting only the finest of cringeworthy film classics...

She's all that. Top quality acting. Is it wrong that I like her better before the makeover? And what happened to Rachel Leigh Cook?
Now and Then. The soundtrack to this is amazing. My childhood best friend and I watched this an unhealthy amount of times.
Election. Pick Flick. So so good.
Dawn Weiner has to be my biggest childhood hero. "you think you're hot shit but really you're just cold diarrhea"

D.I.Y wrap

Yesterday I received my Hello Sandwich gift wrapping zine in the post which is VERY exciting. It is filled with fun D.I.Y projects for wrapping up gifts for all the special people in your life. I am a firm believer that a beautifully wrapped gift is so much more exciting to give and receive. When I was younger one of my presents under the Christmas tree looked so unbelievably exciting that after pacing around it for a good while I committed the most terrible crime, I opened my gift before Christmas! Of course this was immediately followed with feelings of remorse, and then intense fear about what my parents would do when they found out. I tried to wrap it back up but it was a complete disaster with bits of ripped paper and haphazard cellotape. Needless to say Mum and Dad were very unimpressed and there was no biscuits in my lunchbox for quite some time!
