Karma gods

I've been so lucky of late with all kinds of goodness finding its way to me. My postman has been a super busy dropping off some gems this week. I received a beautifully wrapped package from my best friend Lucy, filled with NZ goodness, and an amazing letter set gifted from the lovely Hello Sandwich. Kawaiiii! Lucky me.

Then finding out about The Kitten Covers courtesy of Cat Party. Oh. My. Goodness.

and Yotam Ottolenghi's food blog for the Guardian. YUM.

Holy smokes

It's a whole news realm of cat collaging. Cats! Flowers! Cats and flowers! I found these amazing images over at youcanmakeiteasy.  You can find more amazing work over at Stephen Eichhorn.

PS. I woke up yesterday morning to discover a winter wonderland. Everything is lightly dusted in snow and it is utterly breathtaking. I have been walking around in total awe. Photos up soon!

Cat attack!

Most cats are sassy assholes but they're irresistible all the same.

cat mania goes Korean

cat mania was recently bought to my attention by Gemma and as it so happens, I bought the latest Korean Elle (I like to look at the pretty pictures) to be greeted by a 5 page spread devoted entirely to, from what I could decipher with my limited Hangul, cats!

this happens to coincide with my latest discovery that I can message photos taken from my cellphone to email, they're low quality and blurry and I love it. I wish I had discovered this months earlier, I now aim to post at least one low~fi cellphone picture a day for my remaining 12 days in SoKo.

Cat mania

It seems cat mania has gripped the imagination of the people. They are every where I turn. On TV, the internet, even crossing the road! This weekend I went to 'Cats Galore', a shop dedicated entirely to cat paraphenalia in Petone. It's heavenly. Cat umbrellas, cat pillows, cat mugs! I think I will still be frequenting the joint when I am a 60 year old spinster living in my cat themed house - perhaps I should leave those fears for another day.

My own cat, Tim, died when I was a teen after eating the string tied around a roast. A victim of his own greed he went out quietly to our river bank and died a painful undelicious death. He was a bit of a sassy bitchy cat and never sat on my lap or showed me affection. All the same I loved his tyrannical and moody ways. That's one of the best things about cats, you have to take them on their terms, not yours, they're not afraid to show a bit of sass and their personalities are as diverse and interesting as humans.

Cat fervour

Louis Wain flips the crazy cat lady stereotype on its head with his long and slow demise into mental illness, which can be traced through his illustrations of his favourite subjects, cats.
